The Star

The Star

Today’s car is The Star, number seventeen of the Major Arcana. This card corresponds to its counterpart in a traditional tarot deck. The Major Arcana are used as a teaching tool to introduce the initiate to the principles of occult worship. Each represents a point along our evolutionary path as magickal beings and discussed the science, and the mysticism, that work in tune to guide our journey as spiritual seekers. As in any tarot deck, this journey begins with Initiation (The Fool), representing innocence and new beginnings. But while the Major Arcana have a finite number, the journey through them continually begins again as the spiral of our existence plays out.

The keyword for this card are Illumination, Inspiration, and Psychic Energy. A beautiful spider/woman appears here, weaving the fabric of life. She personifies the daughter of the firmament and acts as the gateway between the manifested and the unmanifested. Each person is a star; like ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’, it is said that each time an initiate comes to the ancient ways, a star is born. This spider/woman waits patiently in her web, representing the cosmic firmament which is woven like an eight-pointed star. This represents the wheel of Life and the path of the Sun, for the sun is our life-giving star.

Dragons in the colors of the four directions coil through the star web; colored Green (earth), gold (air), crimson (fire), and blue (water), they surround this shapeshifter on all sides. Dragon energy runs throughout the Earth, the galaxy, and the cosmos as primal, creativity, energy, and vibration and they signify the cosmic mind in motion. Droplets of the Water of Life bead and fall from the stellar web seen here. Like morning dew, they are gathering in a pool below this shapeshifter. Seven smaller stars surround a central star in this magickal web, representing the seven veils of spiritual awareness and the Seven Sisters the Pleiades. The merged spider/woman rests in a quiet state of awareness; she knows that the silence alone can point the way to the mystery of the stars and constellations, moving planets, whirling particles, and spiraling waves of energy.

This is a card of pioneering ideas, new knowledge, hopes, and ideals; there is the promise here of fulfillment, inspiration, and spiritual love. Stars are powerful sources of the energy needed to shapeshift. As exemplified by this grandma spider, you can now apply internal balance and clarity to begin to weave and create new patterns, honoring your inner voice. Self-deception and conflict no longer serve you. The Star indicated the experience of multi-dimensional travel, communication, and illumination. Discover your stellar nature while increasing your self-esteem and confidence. The Star path points toward the deeper mysteries of the God and Goddess, thus leading to cosmic wisdom.

On this day, may you find a stellar reason to explore your deeper connection to the Divine! Blessed Be!
