Today’s card is The Moon, number eighteen of the Major Arcana. This aligns it with the corresponding card in a standard tarot deck for meaning and divination purposes. The Major Arcana are used as a teaching tool to introduce the initiate to the principles of occult worship. Each represents a point along our evolutionary path as magickal beings and discussed the science, and the mysticism, that work in tune to guide our journey as spiritual seekers. As in any tarot deck, this journey begins with Initiation (The Fool), representing innocence and new beginnings. But while the Major Arcana have a finite number, the journey through them continually begins again as the spiral of our existence play out.
The keywords for this card are Psychic Abilities, Dreams, and Deception. These shapeshifters have taken the form of the Timberwolf, the white one is a wolf/woman and her opposite, a wolf/man, is black. They are allowing a complete flow of power from their Animal Allies (Otherworld Helpers) to pour through them as they crouch under the full moon light. They are releasing the last barriers between themselves and full psychic awareness. In dreamlike states, they travel into Otherworlds, speaking to and learning from spiritual teachers seeking wisdom, and most of all, looking at the truth of all things. Their connection with the wolves aids them in passing dangerous people and situations invisibly by allowing them to see reality instead of the illusion of what they would like it to be. By calling upon Wolf energy, they can outwit those who would bid them ill and stand and fight if necessary to defend themselves.
The twisted tree behind them is the World Tree, the cosmic bridge to Otherworld sources of ancient wisdom and those who have gone before us including spirit guides and the Gods/Goddesses. The crone aspect of the Goddess is seen here in the form of a raven who is coming with spiritual messages and prophetic wisdom. The ice hanging from the tree represents the last bits of rigidity of thought and the falling barriers between the conscious and subconscious minds. The moon itself is symbolic of initiations, greater growth in the areas of mysticism and that changes to life will come as a result of this growth. The gold jewelry both these shapeshifters wear represents the richness of Spirit they have forged with themselves. All around them swirls the powerful energy of the moon and stars, all the heavenly bodies, and the power of the Otherworlds.
