Today’s card is the Six of Wands, also known as the Lord of Victory.Wands represent the Element of Fire which rules over creation, passion, strength, courage, and resilience, purging and banishing of negative habits or thoughts, transformation, and transcendence, and death and rebirth. Much as in the legend of the Phoenix, Pagans generally believe in Reincarnation, the shedding of the current/former corporeal body by the Soul at the linear end of the lifespan only to be reborn into a new corporeal body to continue the journey of Ascendence. This notion is supported by the scientific fact that energy cannot be destroyed, only converted into different forms. In this way, we also grow as individuals, shedding our old selves daily to grow into a new and better version of ourselves in the process. Just like a butterfly, we are all transforming.
One of the few truly positive cards in the Tarot deck, even when ill-dignified this card symbols victory in the form of achievement or advancement in any field where you a competitor, a contestant, or a contender. Its simplicity allows those who have earned a hand up through knowledge and hard work to receive one. This can be a sporting win, a promotion or advancement at work, acing that test or exam that you have been studying for, or any other similar situation into which the reward is merited. Calling on this energy for assistance when you have not put in the necessary work will not yield the desired result; it only comes to the aid of those that are well armed or where you have no natural ability.
This card also indicated a pivotal moment when you can clearly see the answer to an ethical or moral dilemma. If you have been waffling over which way to fall on a particular issue, try this:
Write down your two choices on separate pieces of paper. Make sure that you are clear in the answer that you are looking for so that the spell works as you intend. Set up or use a small table or flat stone facing South as your altar. Place a red or orange taper candle (one that drips will work best) in a fire-safe holder on the altar; place one answer to the right of the candle, the other to the left. As you face south, call to Zeus and ask him for guidance in finding your way. (you can also substitute any God that works with the energies of Jupiter) As the candle burns, watch to see which side is dripping the most, left or right. This will give you your answer.
It might take a while for this to happen; if you are going to leave the candle burning for some time, be sure you are practicing fire safety first! I have known people to catch their altar on fire because they went to bed with their candles still lit. If there is no clear drip pattern, allow yourself to sleep on it. The answer will come to you in your dreams.
May you be filled with self confidence today as you achieve the result of your hard work and talent!
