Today’s card is the Six of Cups, also known as Chalices. This suit is related to matters of emotion and the heart. This Six generally represents a refreshing openness and innocence, a willingness to learn and an optimism that things will get better as we advance together in understanding. It’s traditional title, The Past, reminds us of our original nature, when we were young and enthusiastic, when anything was possible and the future was an open book. This card tells us to remember that this same freshness, those new possibilities, are always available to us, even now in our adulthood.
Look at your past as a repository of wisdom to be applied judiciously to the present. When the Six of Cups appears, take a look at what is repetitive or cyclical in your life; what links the present situation to the last such experience. A new beginning requires new energy and concentration. Until you analyze the past, you will continue to drift with its current. Distill everything that is worthwhile from your memories and get as much value from it as you can. Then use this as motivation for change. Make the very best use of hindsight, employing new strategies and trying new angles on these recurring issues. Only then will you be able to move forward instead of circling back to the beginning again. Much like a maze, the puzzle you are being asked to solve has two solutions; one will take you back where you started, and the other will move you on the the next game or puzzle on your path. Treat this ‘lesson’ with playfulness and a renewed sense of childish naivety, and it will take on a lightness and joy that permeates your future goals and desires.
May your day be filled with chances to embrace your inner child!
