Seven of Wands

Seven of Wands

Today’s card is the Seven of Wands, also known as the Lord of Valour. Wands represent the element of Fire which rules over creation, passion, strength, courage, and resilience, purging and banishing of negative habits or thoughts, transformation, and transcendence, and death and rebirth. Much as in the legend of the Phoenix, Pagans generally believe in Reincarnation, the shedding of the current/former corporeal body by the Soul at the linear end of the lifespan only to be reborn into a new corporeal body to continue the journey of Ascendence. This notion is supported by the scientific fact that energy cannot be destroyed, only converted into different forms. In this way, we also grow as individuals, shedding our old selves daily to grow into a new and better version of ourselves in the process. Just like a butterfly, we are all transforming.

This card come to us today to signal interference in a current matter at hand. For some, this will come in the form of opposition to an idea, concept, or project that is very important to you. While these people may actually have good intentions such as safeguarding your future or saving you from embarrassment, their opinions are based in their fears, their judgements, and their experiences. Remember to listen with an open mind and heart; if your plans have been carefully crafted, these concerns will be easily reversed by your knowledge and passion. Once in a while, come descending opinions are good to help you step back and see the reality of the problems built into any new endeavor You might even discover that your concerned friend or co-worker has provided insight that makes your efforts flow more smoothly since the Lord of Valour is a signal of victory when common sense and an enterprising spirit are at work.

On the flip side, this card can also be a warning that you are about to ‘win the battle but lose the war’. If a rivalry has sprung up and you appear to be losing to your ‘competition’, whether it be in business, love, or worship, don’t sacrifice common sense to prove them wrong. This short term victory may just seal the fate of the longer struggle. Stay on task, keep external challenges from getting you riled up, and make good decisions. This will go farther than any ‘told you so’ ever can.

May you be blessed with courage and strength as you go throughout your day!
