Today’s card is the Prince of Cups, also known as the Prince of the Chariot of Water. Cups represent the Element of Water which rules over the heart and matters of love, friendship, compassion, and healing, charm, beauty, entertainment, and the arts, including the Occult. Thus, while Fire is the Creative Force, Water is the emotion that inspires us to Create. All art forms use symbolism, whether through paint, music, poetry, acting, or dance, which in turn connects with the subconscious mind, where magick occurs.
This Prince is s the ruler of supply and demand and is able to help you in times of lack. While typically the Cups represent emotional matters, this card represents the breadwinner in the family, be it man or woman. The occult symbolism seen on the card are used to control the flux and reflux of material necessity and does so on a personal, national, and international level. He has the ability to aid us in tracking highs and lows in the stock market, the collapse of the housing market, or any number of material ups and downs that affect our ability to be happy and secure. It is therefore wise to recognize one’s own cycle of need and lack in order to work best with the energies of this card.
When asking for blessings that involve material gain, it is okay to ask for what you need and what you want. The Universe will decide, however, what it is going to give you. Just remember that when you ask God for something, the answer is not always YES! Spirit gives what we need and can handle but not so much that we are lazy, ungrateful, or gluttonous. And while I agree that there are obvious exceptions to this rule, the saying ‘To whom much is given, much is expected’ certainly applies. The laws of Karma will certainly pay in kind for a lack of understanding this principle, even if the punishment is not evident for us to see it will be felt by the person who lacks the compassion that usually accompanies great wealth and happiness. Ask for what you need, work for what you want, and take what you can get with gratitude. This cycle will surely be rewarded later in life.
As with all court cards, this one can represent a man appearing in your life with light brown or chestnut hair and hazel of green eyes. This person will be well dressed, even a bit of a show-off, and will be subtle, artistic, and deeply emotional, although you might never know it under his calm exterior. This person is not one to ask for practical advice. They tend to be flighty when it comes to financial matters but are good for a hug or a laugh when you need it most.
On the flip side, this person could be the type that is prone to thinking that everything is a personal attack and react accordingly with violence or abusive talk. They tend to be fairly sly and crafty but are weak-willed, especially when under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Be sure this person doesn’t drag you into their personal drama. No good can come from whatever they have planned and you could be left ‘holding the bag’.
May you be blessed with all you need and some of what you want today!
