Today’s card is the Nine of Air (Wands), also known as Strength. In a more traditional tarot deck, the suit of Wands is used to represent the Element of Fire. However, in the Shapeshifter deck, its creators have chosen to use this suit to represent the Element of Air. Air controls matters of the mind, the intellect, learning and analytical thinking, mental health and the psyche. It also rules over dreams, third sight, psychic abilities and astral travel.
The keywords for this card are Preparedness, Vision, Divine Help, and Perception. In this nature scene the shapeshifting faces of both people and animals can be seen throughout. The animals— hawk, wolf, bear, rabbit, horse, and owl— look out over the grassy river banks and the reeds that grow beside its waters. Faces also appear in the water and are shapeshifting from the trees in the background. These creatures represent all aspects of nature who have come to drink in Strength from the River of Life. The river reeds look like staves, symbolic of protection, while holly, the magickal trefoil, lines the opposite bank. Symbols of transmigration, three dragonflies hover nearby.
This card has a dual meaning. With many internal resources at your disposal right now, this is a time where physical strength and spiritual vision against any opposition is in your favor. With that said, a mighty wind is blowing on the horizon. However, be prepared to defend your personal patterns as those that you know to be true for YOU! Being watchful of nature’s cycles and Goddess consciousness will allow you to tap into the infinite Source of Oneness. This will strengthen your perception and intuition at this time. Your subconscious and subconscious minds are working in sync; help from a higher power, God, or Goddess may be on the horizon.
May you lean into the wind today and bear any storm with the strength and purpose of your Inner Truth!
