Five of Fire

Five of Fire

Today’s card is the Five of Fire (Swords), also known as Conflict. In the traditional tarot deck, The Suit of Swords represents the Element of Air but in the case of the Shapeshifter deck, these elements have been switched; the creators of this deck have used Wands for Air and Swords for Fire. Fire represents the Spirit as the fourth phase of our spiritual journey; it empowers creation, passion, and sexual desire, strength, courage, and power, purging and purity, forging and manipulation, the ‘AHA’ moment and the changing of one thing into another.

The keywords for this card are Defeat, Aggression, and Adversaries. The atmosphere of this card indicates the negative message hidden within. This card is one of gradual decay and dismal depressing surrounding. Luminescent, greenish stagnant water is seen all around the legs of this bear/man. Slowly putrefying, this mucky pool forms the foundation for this shapeshifter. It is symbolic of the negative emotional condition in which people allow themselves to live. His environment is being created by his deep-felt negative emotions such as depression and self-loathing. Although the bear also represents strength and stamina, none of these positive qualities is aiding the shifter as he actually merges with the putrid water below. Instead, this bear is seen in his negative state, raging with unpredictable emotions and explosive anger. In this state, the mind of the man is plotting revenge on those he believes to be responsible for his state of affairs; He gives no notice to the green waters in which he stands and continues to subconsciously draw his energy from this toxic source. Thus, his emotions are projected in the form of aggression and violent anger. Like the tangled and twisted roots of this tree behind him, he has allowed circumstance to tangle and twist his life and his attitude He has moved away from his spiritual path and the calmness of the center within to a more pragmatic approach that is not suiting him well at all!

This card is a warning! The seeker or someone close to them has allowed powerful negative feelings and responses to others to affect your life and relationships. Consider carefully whether this card speaks to you on a personal level; an angry or unthinking response to a pretty ordinary situation could cost you a job, friend, or opportunity. Although in the moment it may seem as if you come out on top, in actually you have cut off your nose to spite you face. In the end, the result may be winning the battle but losing the war. This card can also indicate a dangerous person with whom you are involved; if this applies to you, time to get out now for your own safety! Ask for help, if needed, from family, friends, and abuse counselors.

May your feet be on the spiritual path today and may positive energies and attitudes bring you joy and happiness!
